Dan Auerbach, guitarist for the Black Keys, has brought a breath of fresh air to the Blues. Being only one of two musicians on stage, Dan relies a lot on effects to have his guitar cover more ground. He is noted for saying that he owns over 100 pedals. With so many pedals, the Dan Auerbach pedalboard seems to be changed often, with pedals rotating in and out.
Looking at the list of pedals he employed through the years, you can tell at what is important for him: Fuzz, Tremolo and Delay. He also doesn’t seem to favor a particular pedal, as they seem to get replaced fairly often. Even when they aren’t replaced, you might also see a different pedal next to it offering the same effect.

We also compiled a list of pedal replacements for the out of production pedals included on this list. And their are many; Dan gets his hands on many vintage pedals. One such pedal is the infamous green Big Muff. The Big Muff Bass pedal is close to the same thing, for a new pedal. The original guitar Big Muffs were also used by bassists, so the bass-versions weren’t too far from the originals.
