The Edge Pedalboard – U2

The Edge Pedalboard Introduction

When the Joshua Tree was released years ago, the album broke new ground in terms of sound. Now familiar to many, this distinct sound was innovative, thanks to in great part, The Edge.

Today, following what the Edge uses for effects could be a full-time job. Actually, it IS; if you’ve seen It Might Get Loud, you’ll see how important his guitar tech is for him!

The following is a list of pedals which can be found on his outboard effect pedals (the actual pedalboard). This goes in addition to his guitar rack, which contains many delay and loop effects. In fact, these two effect units, of which there are 3 and 4 of each in his rack, are discontinued. Fortunately, there are some good, affordable, alternatives to make your own “The Edge Pedalboard”. One is the TC Electronic ND-1 Nova Delay, which is based on the TC 2290 Digital Delay that the Edge has in his rack.

This “Field Effect Transistor” is a very important part of The Edge pedalboard. It can be hard to find, since it’s discontinued. Many have discuss alternatives, such the Fulltone FET below, but none have come up with a comparable alternative.
